Day 3 of my To-The-Woods STEMersion.
Today we learned about backpacking. We started with a story about this girl who went on the Pacific Crest trail for the first time; and the morning of her first day, she had packed an immense amount of stuff and couldn't lift her bag. We then did a new activity where we partnered up and came up with a hike that would last 10-15 days of anywhere we wanted; then we made a list of all the items we would need on it. After our list was made, we estimated the weight of all our items (the weight we would have to carry in our packs for the entire hike).
My partner Sophia and I decided we would hike to the top of Yosemite Falls in Yosemite National Park, California. We decided that we could do it in 2 weeks, and came up with these materials we would need to fit in/on our bags and filled out our sheet accordingly:
