To The Woods: Day 2

My second day of my To-The-Woods STEMersion

Today we talked about a special type of story/poem called "The Pie That Papa Baked." It had a very unique kind of structure of repetition. We separated into groups and were assigned to create our own poem in this style about how water makes its way from streets, to drains, to animals, to had several visitors from the City of Dayton Water Treatment. They talked with us about how water from the streets drains into separate sewers than our own waste, and drains into lakes, rivers, and streams. They also told about how they process the sewage water and clean it so it can also be released into the aqueducts as well.

My Group's Story:

After they left, we continued working on our stories with our groups. Some of my group members liked to think that fish eat sand, and raccoons; but I thought we could be a little more convincing. We had agreed to start with water, and talk about mud. Here's our final draft:

This Is The Water

This is the water, moist and wet,

This is the water, moist and wet, that flows onto the tree, brown and sticky,

This is the water, moist and wet, that flows onto the tree, brown and sticky, down the hill, large and grassy,

This is the water, moist and wet, that flows onto the tree, brown and sticky, down the hill, large and grassy, leading into the mud, brown and squishy,

This is the water, moist and wet, that flows onto the tree, brown and sticky, down the hill, large and grassy, leading into the mud, brown and squishy, into the sand, small and fine,

This is the water, moist and wet, that flows onto the tree, brown and sticky, down the hill, large and grassy, leading into the mud, brown and squishy, into the sand, small and fine, under the fish, lively and colorful,

This is the water, moist and wet, that flows onto the tree, brown and sticky, down the hill, large and grassy, leading into the mud, brown and squishy, into the sand, small and fine, under the fish, lively and colorful, eaten by beavers, plump and round

This is the water.
